I started writing ‘novels’
when I was about five years old, lying on the floor in my grandmother’s flat in West London and tracing the heart-stopping words…’Chapter One’. This gravitational pull towards paper, dust jackets and pens (in those days, there were no computers) unrolled like a red carpet for me, and it is one I’m still walking.
You can find out more about my writerly beginnings on my biography page, which will give you some idea of the necessity of writing for me. I hope it inspires you, both to read my work, and perhaps to write yourself or to follow any sort of creative path (a wonderful choice, I think).
This space is also where you can treat yourself to a cosy read,
and enjoy accompanying me through my blog as I research my new book/s. My writerly life does not involve awards ceremonies or nightclubs, but it does involve rationalising the purchase of ‘just one more book’ (which might inspire me or help in my research) and staying up too late as I fumble for the best way to describe pomegranates or custard tarts. I also try not to care too much about being a mid-life writer, and so you will see me leaping in anyway. I have never stopped wanting to learn.
This site was created for readers who appreciate words and happiness, spring gardens, and very possibly, a goodly slice of coffee and walnut cake. If you are drawn to the sound of rain, lingering in bookshops, lunch-time picnics with friends, and the scent of honeysuckle in a summer garden, as well as thoughtful characters and happy endings, then you may like to stay awhile.
Words are my Super-Power
I update my site regularly, so please do visit often and sign up for my newsletter to be first to find out about my new projects (below). I would be honoured if you could consider this special space your sanctuary. I am so very pleased you are here.
Your writerly friend,
Lee x
